Under One Roof: Support from 1968 to Tomorrow

Sleepout For Homelessness
7pm – February 21st, 2025

This year, over 76,000 Chicagoans experienced homelessness, and one in five households faced food insecurity. To address these pressing challenges, we’re hosting our annual Sleepout for Homelessness, raising funds to provide life-changing resources that help pave the way to stability for those in need.

In the spirit of our origins, we’re looking back to 1968, when Church of Our Saviour opened its doors during the unrest of the DNC. Youth seeking refuge from violence found sanctuary in the pews, spending the night under one roof. To honor this history, we’ll be holding our “Sleepout” inside the Church of the Atonement for an all-night event.

Bring your sleeping bag and slip into your coziest pajamas! Join slumber parties across the city or opt for the classic “sleep outside in a tent” experience in your own backyard. No matter how you participate, every dollar raised will help provide Chicago’s most vulnerable with essential services like medical care, housing assistance, job training, and food security.

Whether you’re lighting a candle or sleeping in with us, your participation brings hope to those experiencing homelessness in Chicago. Your support fuels the work of Care for Friends, offering vital resources to those who need it most.

Want to go beyond donating? Explore four creative ways to get involved in the event on February 21st. Learn more at www.CFFSleeps.com.

Together, under one roof, we can provide care and hope—from 1968 to tomorrow.

This year, there are FOUR great ways to participate:

Sleepout All Night With Us at 5749 N. Kenmore Avenue, at the Church of the Atonement: Our classic option. We provide the space, you bring a sleeping bag. Ask friends for support via your personal fundraising page (but no fundraising minimum is required).

Sleep All Night at a Slumber Party: Break out your pajamas and join other sleepers in a home for a group slumber party! You can organize your own home and group of friends, we can connect you with a host home, or you can volunteer your home for others. Ask friends for support via your personal fundraising page (but no fundraising minimum is required).

Sleep All Night At Home: The sleep at home option where you make your own plans to spend a night in your own indoor or outdoor space. Ask friends for support via your personal fundraising page (but no fundraising minimum is required).

Be a Fire Tender: Sign up for a 30-minute timeslot during the night to keep our fire burning. Ask friends for support via your personal fundraising page (but no fundraising minimum is required).
